As our villa became more and more popular as a prime luxury vacation retreat, we began looking for ways to give back to the local community as well as other charitable organizations.  We founded Friends of Cabrera, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, to create a foundational bedrock organization that could help provide assistance throughout the local area.  A private school was founded in Cabrera, now called Faro de Cabrera, and we ultimately transferred control of the charity to them for the purpose of fund-raising specifically for the school.

At the same time, this was happening, we encountered the DREAM Project with a very well-formed mission, organization, management, and excellent fund-raising capabilities.  We came up with a creative way to help DREAM, and other charitable organizations, to obtain large donations–we provided them with a week in our villa they could auction off.  Most charitable organizations have annual fund-raisers involving charity auctions.  This turned out to be perfect!

Over the years we have been able to donate a few days or an entire week to various charity auctions.  The charities auction off a magnificent vacation package in the luxury of Villa Castellamonte.  The proceeds from the auction, 100% of the proceeds, remain with the charity.  The donor who purchased the package gets a fantastic tax deduction and we get the joy of knowing we have been able to make a true difference in the lives of many.
